Simon has suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for many years. In this portrait I wanted to show his heroic resilience and vulnerability.  The dramatic contrasts of light and dark refer to my interest in Renaissance and Baroque Paintings.  The many different textures here combine to achieve the effect i was seeking,
